The Effects of Characteristics and Productive Activities of the Working Elderly on Successful Aging: Focused on Interaction Effect of Productive Activities

|
This study investigated the effects of characteristics and productive activities of the working elderly in Seoul metropolitan area on successful aging, focused on interaction effect of productive activities. For this purpose, 298 cases were collected and main effect and interaction effect of characteristics and productive activities on successful aging were analysed by multiple regression method. The major results were as follows: First, education, income, health, sex, productive activities( relatives support activity, community participation activity, job activity) variable, respectively, affected successful aging as main effect. Second, community participation activity had the interaction effect with job activity. Third, education and spouse, respectively, had interaction effect with relatives support activity, community participation activity. Fourth, sex had the interaction effect with community participation activity and income had it with job activity. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the linkages among employment support agency, welfare agency for the elderly, volunteer center and to help the highly educated working elderly do relatives support activity and community participation activity initiatively. It is, also, desirable to provide various types of good jobs which secure moderate wage levels and to implement appropriate job training and job placement for the working elderly, considering their aptitudes and abilities.
